GATE 2026 admit card released, download link here

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 admit card today, January 13, 2026. Candidates who have registered for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 can now download their hall tickets online from the official website.

The admit card release comes after a brief delay from the earlier scheduled date of January 2, 2026. The download link is now active, allowing candidates to access their exam details well ahead of the scheduled test dates.

Candidates are advised to download the GATE 2026 admit card immediately and carefully check all the information mentioned on it.

Steps to download GATE 2026 Admit Card

Eligible candidates must follow these steps to download their admit card:

  • Step 1. Visit the official GATE 2026 portal: gate2026.iitg.ac.in
  • Step 2. Log in using your registered Enrollment ID / Email address and Password.
  • Step 3. Find and click on the “Download Admit Card” link.
  • Step 4. Carefully verify all details, including your name, photograph, signature, exam date, time, and venue.
  • Step 5. Download the PDF and take multiple printouts for the exam day and future reference.

Important: The admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination centre. Candidates must also carry a valid original photo ID such as an Aadhaar Card, Passport, or Driving Licence along with the printed admit card.

GATE 2026 Examination Schedule

As per the official schedule released earlier, IIT Guwahati will conduct GATE 2026 across four days in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode:

  • Exam Dates: February 7, February 8, February 14, and February 15, 2026.
  • Conducting Body: IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with IISc Bengaluru and all IITs, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Ministry of Education.
  • Papers Offered: 30 subject papers.
  • Exam Pattern: Each paper is for 100 marks—15 marks for General Aptitude (common) and 85 marks for the subject-specific syllabus.

Candidates are strongly advised to take these mock tests to get familiar with the exam interface, navigation, and question format. Practising with mock tests helps in better time management and reduces exam-day stress.

GATE is a national-level examination that assesses candidates’ understanding of subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, Humanities, and Commerce. A valid GATE 2026 score is required for several academic and career opportunities, including:

  • Admission to ME, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs at IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, and other prestigious institutions.
  • Recruitment in leading Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, and NTPC.
